Jotaro Kujo: The Star Platinum User

Jotaro Kujo is the most iconic JoJo of them all. A stoic Japanese delinquent who wields the time-stopping Stand Star Platinum, he leads the journey to Egypt in Stardust Crusaders and returns as a steady mentor across three later Parts — the calm centre of the entire Stand era.

Star Platinum

Jotaro’s Stand, Star Platinum, is a close-range powerhouse with tremendous strength, near-perfect precision and blinding speed. Its rapid-fire punches — delivered with the cry "ORA ORA ORA" — can pulverise stone and pluck a bullet out of the air, and its eyesight is sharp enough to read the finest detail from a distance.

Star Platinum is regarded as one of the strongest Stands in the series precisely because it does one thing to perfection: raw physical dominance within arm’s reach. What it lacks in range it more than repays in overwhelming power.

Star Platinum: The World

During his final duel with DIO, Jotaro discovers that Star Platinum shares The World’s rarest power: the ability to stop time. At first he can freeze only a moment, but by the end of Stardust Crusaders he can move freely within stopped time to counter DIO directly.

This shared ability underlines the deep link between Star Platinum and The World — two Stands of almost equal power, one born of the Joestar spirit and the other of Dio’s stolen Joestar body. Their clash is the climax of the entire Part.

The Journey to Egypt

In Stardust Crusaders, Jotaro sets out with his grandfather Joseph Joestar, Muhammad Avdol, Noriaki Kakyoin, Jean Pierre Polnareff and the dog Iggy to reach DIO in Egypt before a Stand-born illness kills his mother. Along the way the group faces DIO’s assassins one by one, each with a unique Stand.

Jotaro’s cold exterior hides a fierce loyalty to his companions. The heavy losses of the journey — and his final victory over DIO — shape him into the quiet, protective figure he remains for the rest of the series.

The Mentor of Later Parts

Jotaro returns in Diamond is Unbreakable as a marine biologist who travels to Morioh to find Josuke Higashikata, his young uncle, and to help hunt the serial killer Yoshikage Kira. Older and calmer, he serves as a guide rather than the lead.

He appears again in Stone Ocean as the father of the new protagonist, Jolyne Cujoh, whose imprisonment sets that Part in motion. Across four Parts, Jotaro evolves from brash teenager to weary guardian, making him the connective thread of the classic timeline.

Why He Endures

Jotaro’s appeal is his restraint. He rarely raises his voice, ends fights with a curt "yare yare daze," and lets Star Platinum’s fists do the talking. That understated cool made him the face of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure for a generation of fans.

In JOJOSDLE he is a near-perfect example of the classic Stardust Crusaders profile: male, Joestar family, Stand User, debuting in Part 3. Guessing him early is a smart way to lock down several of the game’s most common attribute values at once.
